Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements under previous standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements.
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
- Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
- Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include those accredited by ACGME, AOA, or other recognized programs with verified U.S. practice experience.
- Resident Eligibility: Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under specific conditions.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience: Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass pre-employment physical.
Duties
- Manage medical care for Veterans enrolled in Primary Care, including documentation, workload capture, and alert management.
- Lead the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and collaborate with team members to ensure quality and safety of care.
- Responsible for performance metrics, customer service, quality improvement, and maintaining licensures and credentials.
- Participate in quality assurance, survey readiness, and committee activities.
- Maintain professional standards and facility policies.
- Work hours are typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
