Job summary

Effinghamschools is seeking a Physician Practice Billing Specialist to support timely reimbursement for services rendered in a physician practice setting. Under supervision, you will review claims, submit electronic and paper claims, post payments, and follow up on denials while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of billing experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Certification as CPAR is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal training: Understanding of commercial/in‑state payer processes and strong written/verbal communication; CPAR/billing certification preferred.
• Work experience: At least two years billing experience in a physician practice, hospital, or healthcare revenue-cycle setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient accounts for completeness and accuracy before claim submission.
• Submit clean electronic and paper claims to commercial insurers, government payers, and other third-party payers.
• Monitor submissions, denials, rejections, and underpayments to support timely reimbursement.
• Investigate, correct, appeal, and resubmit denied claims with supporting documentation.
• Post payments and manage patient statements and account reconciliation.
• Provide professional and responsive customer service to patients, providers, and payers.
