Job summary

Shriners Children's in Honolulu seeks a Physician Practice Assistant to support medical and nursing staff in outpatient clinics, performing routine clinical tasks and phlebotomy, and assisting with casting. Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and EMR documentation are core duties.

Under physician and RN supervision, you will coordinate care, prep supplies, monitor equipment, and help with department workflows. BLS required; CMA preferred; pediatric care experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• CMA certification preferred.
• Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic or physician's office preferred.
• Two years' pediatric care experience preferred.
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification noted.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and prep exam rooms.
• Assist physician and RN; interact with other departments.

In addition, they are responsible for phlebotomy and assisting with the application and removal of casts.Key Responsibilities:The Physician Practice Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments.The Physician Practice Assistant works with and under the direction of the Physician and RN.Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes.Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)Responsible for prepping clinic to include ordering and monitoring supply levels and equipment.Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as neededRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma / GEDBasic Life Support (BLS)Preferred Qualifications:Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic or physician's office beyond internship preferred.Two years' pediatric care experienceAmerican Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)The pay range for this position is $20.30 - $30.45/hour.Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
