Description

Working from a solutions-oriented approach, the staff Podiatrist treats a variety of foot and ankle ailments including calluses, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, and arch problems as well as foot and leg problems associated with diabetes and other diseases. The position also serves as coach/mentor/trainer to other clinicians and clinical support staff, giving guidance in best practices, troubleshooting of medical services and operations related to Podiatry. The position reports directly to the Chief Integrations Officer (CIO) or CIO designee.

This is an on-call position, working as needed.

Compensation

$100.28 - $109.58 per hour, depending on experience. This rate includes a 20% differential in lieu of benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the condition of a patient’s feet, ankles, or lower legs by reviewing medical history, listening to the patient’s concerns, and performing a physical examination as needed.
  • Diagnose foot, ankle, and lower-leg problems through local examination, x-rays, medical laboratory tests, and other methods.
  • Provide treatment for foot, ankle, and lower leg ailments, such as prescribing special shoe inserts (orthotics) to improve mobility.
  • Perform ambulatory foot and ankle surgeries and correcting foot and ankle deformities within the scope of outpatient practice.
  • Give advice and instruction on foot and ankle care and on general wellness techniques and prescribe medications as needed.
  • Refer patients to other physicians or specialists if they detect larger health problems, such as diabetes.
  • Stay abreast of advances in podiatric medicine by attending trainings and conferences, and reading related material.
  • Provide podiatric support, counseling, and education in the management of common acute and chronic podiatric illnesses.
  • Collaborate with clinical providers in all departments and support with consults related to podiatry.
  • Work as a member of the health care team and assist in education of patients and the target community in preventive health care and health maintenance concepts.
  • Demonstrate a pattern of continued learning to ensure growth as a practitioner.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, as necessary and/or required by TVHC, Inc.
  • Perform all duties in support of successful EHR/EPM implementation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards, modeling service excellence in all internal and external relationships.
  • Provide additional assistance within and outside of clinical arena, as requested and/or as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of the organization.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Chief Integrations Officer/designee.
  • Ability to travel to other clinics as needed.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited college of podiatric medicine required.
  • Current, valid Podiatrist license in the State of California’s Board of Podiatric medicine required.
  • Current DEA license and CPR required.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience providing Podiatry care within a community health center environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Understands and commits to maintaining highest level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, external contacts, and other TVHC members.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical problems.
  • Sensitivity to needs of culturally and linguistically diverse patient and employee population.
  • Excellent emotional coping skills, adequate to confront difficult emotional situations and emotional responses of others.
  • Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technology and to willingness to develop and adapt to the evolving technological requirements of modern medical health center practices.
  • Ability to speak basic Spanish to examine and converse with patients is preferred.
Travel

Ability to travel to other clinics as needed.
