Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physicians seeks a Plastic Surgeon to provide comprehensive evaluation, surgical treatment, and follow-up care for reconstructive and cosmetic procedures in adults and adolescents. Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree required.
  • Completion of Plastic Surgery residency or equivalent training.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Plastic Surgery.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • DEA registration and controlled substance authority as required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat reconstructive, restorative, and cosmetic procedures.
  • Perform comprehensive consultations, physical examinations, and preoperative assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient goals and history.
  • Perform surgical procedures in office-based, ambulatory, or hospital settings as appropriate.
  • Provide postoperative care, monitor healing and outcomes, and manage complications.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, options, risks, recovery, and follow-up care.

Job description

The Plastic Surgeon provides comprehensive evaluation, surgical treatment, and follow-up care for patients requiring reconstructive and/or cosmetic procedures. This physician delivers high-quality, patient-centered care for adult and adolescent patients, combining strong clinical judgment, surgical expertise, and excellent communication skills. The Plastic Surgeon is committed to evidence-based care, patient safety, and collaborative practice in an outpatient and surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients requiring reconstructive, restorative, and cosmetic surgical procedures
  • Perform comprehensive consultations, physical examinations, and preoperative assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, medical history, and clinical indications
  • Perform surgical procedures in office-based, ambulatory, or hospital settings as appropriate
  • Provide postoperative care, monitor healing and outcomes, and manage complications when necessary
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, benefits, recovery expectations, and follow-up care
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Plastic Surgery or equivalent approved training pathway
  • Board certified or board eligible in Plastic Surgery
  • Active and unrestricted medical license, or ability to obtain licensure in the applicable state
  • DEA registration and controlled substance authority as required
  • Demonstrated experience in reconstructive and/or cosmetic surgery preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard clinical documentation systems
Total Rewards

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Specialty Care Networks' salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
