Job Title: Hospice & Palliative Medical Director

The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS) is seeking a full-time Hospice & Palliative Medical Director for the Rehabilitation and Extended Care service line.

Duties

The VA Midwest Health Care Network promotes a Whole Health System of care, empowering Veterans to take charge of their health and well-being. As part of this system, you will create personalized health plans for Veterans within a healing environment and community connection, aligning with the VA's mission to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending training or licensing completion may be considered tentatively. Current VA employees who met the previous qualification standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable).
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved medical school.
• Current, unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Additional Requirements:

• Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care.

Preferred Experience:

• Fellowship training preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience practicing Hospice and Palliative Care.
