Summary

The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician to be an integral part of the H&PC Program. The position is housed within the Geriatric - Research - Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) and includes responsibilities across inpatient consultation, outpatient clinics, and hospice beds in the Supportive Care Unit of the James J. Peters Community Living Center (CLC).

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered tentatively. Current VA-employed physicians meeting previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
• Completed residency training approved by VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
• Proficiency in English
• Preferred: Palliative Medicine Board eligible, Geriatric experience, research background (optional)

Duties

• Provide symptom management, emotional support, and care planning for inpatient and outpatient veterans
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and educational activities
• Contribute to the growth of the palliative care program and coordinate with primary care providers
• Maintain timely documentation and participate in on-call coverage
