Description

UConn Health is seeking a Hospice Palliative Medicine (HPM) physician to join our growing palliative care program. This is a clinical role with a focus on inpatient palliative care consultation with occasional clinic coverage with ample opportunity for education and scholarship. You will join a team of exceptional nurse practitioners, a pharmacist and collaborate closely with chaplaincy and social work. The inpatient service currently provides consultation Mon- Friday for hospitalized patients. The team works closely with Hospital Medicine, the intensive care units, and Hematology-Oncology as well as local hospices in coordinating inpatient hospice care for appropriate patients. This individual will have a key role in providing palliative care education to Internal Medicine house staff and helping to develop an HPM fellowship.
Palliative care services at UConn includes the Supportive Care Service, embedded in the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides expert symptom management and support for patients receiving cancer treatment. The ambulatory palliative care practice is a rapidly expanding clinic that sees patients with non-malignant serious illness. The team is highly engaged in quality improvement activities and committed to providing evidence-based high-quality care. Opportunity and mentorship for academic development are readily available.
An academic appointment will be offered commensurate with academic qualifications. The qualified candidate will possess broad clinical knowledge, experience in palliative care, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a passion for education and inter-disciplinary collaboration as we expand palliative activities throughout the institution.
