Job summary

Sanford Health - Bemidji, Minnesota is seeking a Board Eligible / Board Certified General Orthopedic Surgeon to join a collegial, well established orthopedic practice serving a strong regional referral base. You will join a team of two general orthopedic surgeons, one sports medicine surgeon, one FM sports medicine physician and five advanced practice providers.

An option for a four-day work week and ten operating rooms with block time support clinical care.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Completion of an orthopedic residency or fellowship; or documented activity within the past 24 months.
  • Demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months.
  • Credentialing and privileging processes must be satisfied.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with orthopedic conditions; perform surgical procedures for all ages.
  • Collaborate with a team of surgeons and providers to serve a regional referral base.

Job Description

Orthopedic Surgery Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care and perform orthopedic surgical procedures for patients of all ages - except where specifically excluded from practice.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree. Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a residency or Fellowship shall provide his/her residency or Fellowship log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months. More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes. Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency. Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the above may be considered by the; Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.

Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions) waives such requirement. Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.

Sanford Health offers a nationally competitive compensation plan with an additional physician benefits package including a health, dental and vision insurance, 401K plan, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, CME allowance, allowed time away, malpractice insurance and tail coverage, and a relocation allowance.

Annual compensation floor range (based on 1.0 FTE): $631,148 - $816,780 plus estimated potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs. Additional incentives may be offered.
