Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN seeks an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to build and lead a rural practice offering core OMS privileges, including patient history, examination, diagnosis and both surgical and nonsurgical care across all ages.

Candidates should have a DDS/DMD, CODA residency or equivalent, and document 24 months of clinical activity with 100+ procedures in the last 24 months. Extensive collaboration with hospital staff is expected.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree.
• Residency completed with a log, or provide a quality profile showing 24 months of clinical activity.
• Demonstrate 100+ OMS procedures in the past 24 months.
• Successful completion of CODA-accredited residency or equivalent certification process.
• Current certification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or active pursuit with certification within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery core privileges include history, exam, admission, evaluation, diagnosis and provision of surgical and nonsurgical care for patients of all ages.
• Collaborate with Sanford Health OMS physicians and utilize access to the hospital operating room.
• Deliver comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care in a rural/community setting with high need.

Job Description

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and dental examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose and provide nonsurgical and surgical care to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions - except where specifically excluded from practice.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:

• An applicant who has just completed a residency shall provide his/her residency log.
• An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures morbidity, mortality, infection rates and other complications. Applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and case volumes should show performance of at least 100 in the past 24 months.
• If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicants clinical and outpatient activity for the past 24 months is required. Applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and case volumes should show performance of at least 100 procedures in the past 24 months.
• Successful completion of a hospital affiliated oral & maxillofacial surgical residency program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The Credentials Committee and the Board of Directors may consider training at residency/fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above.
• Current certification in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery OR Have successful completed an accredited residency in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and active participation in the examination process with achievement of certification within 5 years of completion of formal training leading to specialty certification in oral & maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions)

Compensation

• Annual compensation of $650,000 if you complete required number of shifts for 1.0 FTE
• In addition, a $150,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 3 years (this will be subject to a contractual agreement specifying all details)
