The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon for the Surgery Service Line at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. This role involves managing surgical care and working collaboratively with a team to treat Veteran patients. The ideal candidate will be board certified or eligible, with fellowship training in Total Joint Replacement and Revisions. This position is located in the Surgery Service Line at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. The Orthopedic surgeon serves as a member of the organized medical staff and functions within the Medical Staff Bylaws and other rules and regulations of the Veterans Health Administration and the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.
Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Eligible and Fellowship trained for Total Joint Replacement and Revisions.
Duties

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. For part time positions salary will be pro-rated based on hours worked.
Paid Time Off: Paid annual leave at a rate of 1 hour earned for each 10 hours in a pay status, and paid sick leave at a rate of 1 hour earned for each 20 hours in a pay status, 11 paid Federal holidays per year, and possible 5 day paid absence for CME (pro-rated for part-time employees).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Major duties include but are not limited to:
The Orthopedic surgeon is responsible for managing the full spectrum of surgical care responsibilities including admission from an outpatient site, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, consultation for patients presenting with orthopedic complaints and diseases and the performance of invasive and surgical procedures. To manage the surgical care patients the following will be necessary: ordering appropriate lab work, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, requesting consultations to specialty services, providing both office based and operating room based invasive procedures.
All work activities, both administrative in nature and clinical, will be in conformance with VA, Joint Commission, and other standards as applicable that guide that provider's practice.
The physician will work in a team setting with other physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and support staff assigned to perform duties to accomplish the treatment of Veteran patients.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
