Job description

Summary

This position is located in the Surgery Service Line at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. The Orthopedic Surgeon serves as a member of the organized medical staff, functioning within the Medical Staff Bylaws and VA regulations. Preferred experience includes being Board Certified/Eligible and Fellowship trained in Total Joint Replacement and Revisions.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional criteria listed in the job announcement. Pending applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:
  1. U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if qualified citizens are unavailable)
  2. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
  3. Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  4. Completed residency training approved by VA, leading to eligibility for board certification, in an accredited program (ACGME, AOA, or equivalent)
  5. Residents in approved training programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision
  6. Proficiency in English
  7. Preferred: Board Certified/Eligible and Fellowship trained in Total Joint Replacement and Revisions
  8. Physical and mental capability to perform duties, including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and bending
Duties
  • Manage comprehensive surgical care, including admission, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and surgical procedures
  • Order labs, diagnostics, and consultations; perform office and operating room procedures
  • Ensure practice conforms to VA, Joint Commission, and other standards
  • Collaborate within a team with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
