Position Overview

Marshfield Medical Center – Eau Claire is seeking a BC Orthopedic Surgeon who is fellowship-trained in Spine Surgery to join our well-established team in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Our team of orthopedic colleagues throughout our system of care includes Fellowship-trained Spine, Hand, Foot & Ankle, Sports Medicine, Shoulder Elbow, Pediatrics and Total Joint Specialists.

Competitive Compensation Package includes:
  • Compensation floor of $880,000 for the first two years of the employment contract, plus estimated potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs
  • In addition, a $200,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 4 years (this will be subject to a contractual agreement specifying all details)

Job Description

Orthopedic Surgery Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care and perform orthopedic surgical procedures for patients of all ages - except where specifically excluded from practice.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
  • An applicant who has just completed a residency or Fellowship shall provide his/her residency or Fellowship log.
  • OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months.
  • OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months.
  • More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency.

Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the above may be considered by the; Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.

Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.

For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions) waives such requirement.

Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
