West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Orthopaedics seek a Sports Medicine Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The candidate will practice orthopaedic sports surgery, emphasizing general and complex shoulder surgery. Responsibilities include providing excellent patient care, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical, surgical, and didactic settings, and engaging in scholarly research. This is a full-time faculty role focused on a variety of sports medicine injuries. The faculty member will serve as a team physician for WVU athletic programs, collaborating with athletic trainers and healthcare professionals. Prior experience as a University-level Team Physician is preferred.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be eligible for state medical licensure, and have completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship. Board certification or eligibility in orthopaedic surgery is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Our Department of Orthopaedics has approximately 40 full-time faculty across various subspecialties, emphasizing collaboration, research, and education to improve patient outcomes and advance musculoskeletal science. Our sports practice supports WVU athletic programs, working closely with coaches, trainers, and healthcare professionals.
