Physician (Obstetrics/Gynecology), Fort Campbell, KY
Occupying a significant portion of the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, Fort Campbell supports the fourth largest military population in the Army and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense. It is home to the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 5th Special Forces Group, and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. The base offers various schools and qualification courses, including the Sabalauski Air Assault School, known as the "10 toughest days in the Army," along with the Pathfinder Course, Rappel Master, and FRIES/SPIES Master.
Most of Fort Campbell is located in Tennessee, but the post office serving the base is in Kentucky, giving the installation a Kentucky designation. Clarksville, TN, and Hopkinsville, KY, are the nearby larger towns. The base features modern facilities such as a large new commissary, parks, splash pads, a Starbucks, and updated housing.
Clarksville is experiencing growth while maintaining its small-town charm and history. It is about 40 minutes north of Nashville, with some areas becoming popular bedroom communities for Nashville. The low cost of living, affordable home prices, and absence of state income tax are attractive perks of living in Tennessee. Kentucky towns nearby offer scenic rolling hills, farms, and Southern hospitality, with opportunities for organic produce and local farming. The Nashville music scene influences local festivals, concerts, and community events. Austin Peay University adds cultural and sporting events, complemented by parks, shopping, dining, wineries, breweries, and entertainment options.
The local communities are friendly, laid-back, and predominantly blue-collar, with strong military support and Southern values. Many businesses observe Sunday closures, reflecting the region's cultural norms. The area provides convenient travel options due to its central U.S. location.
Working for the Department of Defense offers benefits such as competitive pay, paid time off, medical benefits, student loan repayment, and a retirement plan with the Thrift Savings Plan, including employer matching contributions. For more information, visit: USAJobs Benefits
