Qualifications

  • Fellowship in Cardiology.
  • Unrestricted Texas medical license.
  • Board certification: ABIM Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
  • DEA license required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Performs non-invasive diagnostic procedures such as echocardiograms and treadmill stress testing as indicated.
  • Educates patients and their families on procedures, home care instructions, and follow-up care requirements.
  • Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) to document patient interactions, treatment plans, and clinical notes, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required; supervises APPs and learners as appropriate.
  • Participates in program development and clinical workflow improvements to enhance access and outcomes.

Overview

Central Health is seeking a skilled cardiologist to join our expanding clinical team, committed to providingcompassionate, high-quality care to underserved communities across Travis County.

In this position you will collaborate with patients, their families, and our multidisciplinary staff to offer specializedconsultation and comprehensive care for patients with cardiac conditions. Working in a multi-specialtyenvironment, you will coordinate closely with other specialties to ensure holistic care. This is a full-time outpatientrole, with direct clinical sessions divided between in-person visits, video consultations, e-consults, ereviews, anddiagnostic reading time. You will be involved in supervising and/or conducting various non-invasive diagnosticprocedures, such as echocardiograms, stress echocardiography, exercise treadmill stress testing, Holter and eventmonitors, based on clinical indications. You may supervise advanced practice providers and serve as an attending physician for learners at various levels.

This position will work closely with the Associate Director of Medical Specialty Care and will actively partner withthe cardiology team in developing programs for managing, treating, and preventing cardiac diseases. You will alsohelp design clinical workflows to improve access to care, support evidence-based practices, and enhance efficiency.Ten percent of clinical time will be dedicated to administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments,diagnostics, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population. Prescribes medications, treatmentregimens, and other interventions based on the patient’s medical condition.Refers patients to specialists and additional care services as necessary to ensure comprehensive treatment.Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) to document patient interactions, treatment plans, and clinical notes,ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.Educates patients and their families on procedures, home care instructions, and follow-up care requirements.Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues through various modalities.Demonstrates professional management skills, including planning, organizing, and scheduling work efficiently andproductively.Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. May manage the dailyoperations of specific medical programs or research initiatives.Directs and supervises advanced practice providers as required. May train and supervise medical students andresidents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.Ensures adherence to departmental policies, safety protocols, quality improvement goals, and infection controlstandards.Participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.Contributes to the design and implementation of clinical workflows aimed at improving care access, supportingevidence-based practices, and enhancing efficiency.Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to maintain alignment with organizational objectives and foster ateam-oriented environment.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of a Residency in Internal Medicine

Completion of an Accredited Fellowship in Cardiology

Unrestricted licensed to practice Cardiology (Medicine) in the State of Texas RequiredBoard Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Cardiology RequiredDEA - Narcotics License Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number for the purpose of writing prescriptions RequiredBasic Life Support (BLS) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross RequiredCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross RequiredBoard certification in echocardiography Preferred
