  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Residency in Internal Medicine
  • Accredited Fellowship in Nephrology with ABMS certification
  • 2 years of clinical experience
  • Unrestricted license to practice Medicine in Texas
  • ABIM and ABMS board certification
  • DEA license for prescribing
  • BLS certification
  • CPR certification for Healthcare Providers

Responsibilities

  • Examines patients, takes histories and treats acute and chronic kidney conditions.
  • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests.
  • Involves patients and families in care decisions and referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to improve care delivery.

Job description

Overview

The Nephrologist is responsible for providing expert consultation and continuing care for patients with renal-relatedconditions, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and hypertension, while offering leadership to thecomprehensive care team managing complex medical issues. The physician works collaboratively within amultidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with Central Health’s mission toimprove the health and well-being of the communities we serve. The role may also include supervising advancedpractice providers and serving as an attending physician for learners at various levels. Preferred candidates willhave experience in FQHC or community health settings, demonstrate cultural competence in caring for diversepopulations, and excel in preventive care and patient education. Familiarity with value-based care models, EHRsystems, and telehealth is highly desirable, as is a commitment to addressing social determinants of health andreducing health disparities.Central Health's mandate is to serve as the safety net for individuals in the county who need healthcareservices. Responsibilities

Examines patients, obtains medical histories and treats acute and chronic illnesses.Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests.Involves patients and their families in care and treatment decisions.Collaborates on improvements in care delivery and service with staff, other physicians and management.Initiates appropriate specialty referrals.Provides clinical information to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner.Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete.Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding and CPT code assignment.Achieves and maintains optimal patient access.Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures and management of patient-care-related activities.Gives feedback to and accepts feedback from all staff in respectful manner.Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures and federal and state laws.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Promotes health education in conjunction with other health professionals.Advises the Director of Specialty of any problems that can affect the quality and efficiency of the organization.

Qualifications

Required:

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of a Residency in Internal Medicine

Residency in InternalMedicine and Accredited Fellowship in Nephrology with Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties.

2 years of clinical experience

Unrestricted licensed to practice Cardiology (Medicine) in the State of Texas RequiredBoard Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of PulmonologyDEA - Narcotics License Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number for the purpose of writing prescriptions RequiredBasic Life Support (BLS) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross RequiredCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Required
