Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
- Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school
- Current full and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
- Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
- Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Additional: Board certification preferred; experience in primary care and ambulatory clinic management is preferred; experience with population management and adult learning principles is desirable
- Physical requirements: Capable of interacting professionally with patients and staff, tolerating physically demanding workloads, functioning under stress, adapting to changing environments, and displaying flexibility
