West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences seek a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Weirton and Wheeling, West Virginia and will also provide remote services.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, as well as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified/eligible in MFM by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

We are recognized for our care of women with high-risk pregnancies and advanced Gynecologic problems. Our high-risk pregnancy physicians are backed-up by the largest NICU in the state, while our gynecologic surgeons are trained in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

We offer routine care for breast health, bone health, cancer care, obstetrics and gynecology, infertility, internal medicine, maternal-fetal medicine, mental health, menopause and midlife, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, neurology, newborn medicine, and primary care, among other specialties.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Care Team
Our doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals use a team-based, multidisciplinary approach to help women experiencing high-risk pregnancies. They use advanced imaging techniques to accurately diagnose babies with birth defects prenatally and connect parents with neonatologists and pediatric subspecialists when needed.
Our experts work to develop a treatment plan specific to each patient's unique situation. The WVU Medicine Maternal-Fetal Care Team uses a coordinated approach to help women experiencinghigh-risk pregnancies.

Meet the Chair
Brian Casey, MD, joined the WVU Medicine team in March 2024. Dr. Casey came with an extensive background in high-quality healthcare and a commitment to improving care for women in West Virginia and beyond.
Casey joined WVU Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he held numerous leadership roles, including the vice chair of Obstetrics, division director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, assistant program director of the MFM Fellowship, alternate principal investigator for theEunice Kennedy-ShriverNational Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, and interim director of the Obstetric Medical Complications Clinic.
Before his time in Alabama, Casey served as MFM division director, MFM fellowship director at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, principal investigator for the Dallas MFMU Network site, and chief of Obstetrics for Parkland Health and Hospital System in Texas. He also serves as an editor ofWilliams Obstetrics.
Casey completed his fellowship in MFM at UT Southwestern/Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas and his residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine.
