Job summary

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital seeks an Internal Medicine physician to provide professional medical services to patients across inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings. The role includes maintaining medical records, supervising students and residents, and upholding staff privileges across affiliated facilities.

You will contribute to quality initiatives and lead treatment teams to ensure high standards of care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required with board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• State of Michigan Medical License required.
• Current BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional medical services in Internal Medicine to patients of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital (inpatients, outpatients, clinics).
• Maintains medical records in a timely fashion and cooperates with billing, peer review and compliance programs.
• Provides oversight and education for students, residents, and mid-level providers.
• Maintains staff privileges at Mary Free Bed and mutually agreed upon other hospitals, including duties to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion, committee service, etc.
• Identifies and promotes opportunities for improvement of care and participates in Mary Free Bed quality initiatives.
• Monitors developments in the specialty and promotes new programs that meet program criteria.
• Provides medical leadership to treatment teams treating assigned patients and promotes harmonious team functioning.
• Models professional behavior.
• Enhances knowledge of Mary Free Bed capabilities among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation in education sessions, discharge planning conferences, ICU/ Rehab teams, community outreach and related activities.
• Promotes the financial viability of Mary Free Bed.
• Promotes development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer-reviewed journals.

Summary

Physician is responsible for providing professional medical services in the specialty of Internal Medicine to the patients of MFB. The medical services provided are within the mission, vision, and values of MFB.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Provides professional medical services in the specialty of Internal Medicine to patients of MFB in the following areas: Inpatients, Outpatients, Clinics.

Maintains medical records in a timely fashion and cooperates with billing, peer review and compliance programs.

Provides oversight and education for students, residents, and any mid-level providers.

Maintains staff privileges at MFB, and mutually agreed upon other hospitals, including the duties required to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion, committee service, compliance, citizenship, etc.

Identifies and promotes opportunities for improvement of care and actively participates in MFB quality initiatives.

Monitors developments in specialty field and promotes new programs that meet new program criteria.

Provides medical leadership to treatment team treating assigned patients and promotes harmonious and effective team functioning.

Models’ professional behavior.

Enhances knowledge and understanding of capabilities and services of MFB among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation in professional education sessions with network partners, discharge planning conferences at regional acute care hospitals, participation in ICU and other Rehab teams at network and regional acute care hospitals and similar activities, community outreach and programming opportunities presented or promoted by the MFB.

Promotes the financial viability of MFB.

Promotes the development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer reviewed journals.

Essential Job Qualifications

Experience in developing new treatment programs and new treatment paradigms.

Experience in the medical rehabilitation of seriously ill patients.

Published research in peer reviewed journals.
