Description:
Provide 24/7 coverage on Acute Care units as a pediatric hospitalist. The hospitalist acts as the primary pediatrician during a patient's stay, coordinating with primary care physicians and subspecialists. Responsibilities include rapid assessment of deteriorating children, supervising transfers to pediatric intensive care, and caring for children transferred from ICU. Participate in teaching residents during patient rounds, and engage in medical staff committees to review care and promote safety. Follow national guidelines and evidence-based practices, developing and monitoring clinical pathways for conditions such as asthma, bronchiolitis, diabetic ketoacidosis, pneumonia, and sepsis. Ensure rapid admission of children from the ED to inpatient units, maintaining efficient patient flow.
Inpatient Acute Care Units: Provide 24/7 coverage, collaborating closely with nursing staff and case managers to optimize patient care. A schedule of 7 24-hour shifts per month is available.
Qualifications: Board Eligible or Certified, completed fellowship, ability to obtain a CA medical license.
Compensation: Based on California average salary for the specialty, with a full benefits package.
