Job description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount up to $200,000, and eligibility period of one to five years are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment)

Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Compensation and Benefits

Requirements
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional specified in the job announcement. Pending training or licensing completion applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements
  • US Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
  • MD or equivalent degree from an approved medical school
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license
  • Residency training approved by VA (ACGME, AOA, or equivalent with verified practice experience)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
Additional Requirements
  • ABIM Board eligibility/certification in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Medical Oncology
  • Eligibility for faculty appointment at the University of New Mexico based on qualifications and experience
Preferred Experience
  • Recognition for teaching excellence, awards, or trainee recognition
