Must-Have:

Comfortable with moderate sedation in endoscopic procedures

Description:The shift time is from 8 AM to 5 PM, including an unpaid lunch hour.Upper endoscopy takes approximately 30 minutes.Colonoscopy also takes about 30 minutes.Combined cases will take approximately 60 minutes.Most cases are booked with moderate sedation.The physician and nurse administer the sedatives themselves, without the presence of an anesthesia doctor.Occasionally, there may be anesthesiology support.Candidates are expected to perform upper GI endoscopy with biopsy and foreign body removal.Fulguration of bleeders is required, but injection of varices is not required.ERCP and diagnostic procedures are not required.Therapeutic procedures with PEG are not required.Esophageal dilatation and manometry are preferred skills.Small bowel biopsy and lower GI endoscopy are required.Sigmoidoscopy and flexible procedures are required.Colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp excision are required.Endoscopic ultrasound is not required.Liver biopsy and insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube are not required.

This position requires a commitment to providing quality care in a fast-paced environment.Candidates should be prepared for a variety of patient encounters throughout their shift.
