The mission of VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) is to provide coordinated, compassionate, and comprehensive quality primary care, mental health, surgical, intensive, and extended care to Veterans in a timely, accessible, and cost-effective manner. It is a fully integrated medical care facility with a dual campus and a combined VA mission.
The physician is responsible for the clinical care and management of Veterans within the Emergency Room Department, Fort Wayne IN - NIHCS. Responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment modalities, care planning, care coordination, clinical duties, and assignments, including serving as Code team lead and implementing performance improvements.
Hours: TBD - based on shift
Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized
Virtual: This is not a virtual position
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually (including leave, sick leave, holidays, and CME days)
Retirement: Federal pension and 401K with up to 5% VA contribution
Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care
Licensure: 1 full, unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000/year reimbursement
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage
Contract: No employment contract or restrictions on moonlighting
Conditions include U.S. citizenship, licensure, residency, completion of residency training, English proficiency, background check, pre-employment physical, and vaccination requirements.
Must meet basic requirements, including education from an accredited school, licensure, residency, and English proficiency. Preferred: Board Certified or Board Eligible with 2-3 years of Emergency Medicine experience.
