Job description

Division Chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport are seeking a Division Chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology.

The successful candidate will have both clinical and research expertise to lead the medical oncology division. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center and the Cancer Service Line, along with the Cancer Center Director, across Northwest Louisiana. The candidate should possess strong administrative, clinical, and teaching skills, and a commitment to the division's mission, fostering clinical excellence, program development, and practice coordination.

The appointed faculty level at LSU Health Shreveport will match the candidate's experience. The candidate must obtain a Louisiana medical license, hospital privileges, and insurance credentialing.

Specific duties include:
  1. Overseeing physician and clinical operations, and program development in medical oncology.
  2. Working in clinics with disease-specific subspecialty focus four days/week, meeting productivity and quality metrics.
  3. Providing a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  4. Participating in call duties as required.
  5. Teaching fellows, residents, and medical students.
  6. Attending tumor boards, including those for other specialties at MCI.
  7. Engaging in community outreach and developing referral relationships, collaborating with business development.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

Board certification in medical oncology/hematology, with 5-7 years of practice experience. Prior administrative experience is required. Research experience with national funding is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills are essential.
