Job summary

Renown Health in Reno, NV is seeking a Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide clinical care for pediatric patients with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, or eating disorders.

The physician will collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers, participate in teaching residents and medical students, and may involve telemedicine. The role requires leadership, independence, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid MD or DO license. Nevada license preferred.
• Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Controlled Substance License to Prescribe in Nevada and DEA registration required.
• BLS required; PALS encouraged; AHA or equivalent certifications preferred.

Job description

Physician-Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Physician shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of a pediatric psychiatry including but not limited to psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, or eating disorders. Physician will be expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers. Physician can expect to have some involvement with telemedicine. A component of the physician's time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in‑services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred.

Education

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Experience

Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred.

License(s)

Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled Substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA are required.

Certification(s)

Board‑Eligible or Board‑Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). If provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly encouraged. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.

Computer / Typing

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
