A leading healthcare provider in Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Cardiologist to manage advanced heart failure patients. The role involves inpatient and outpatient care, teaching, and research, with responsibilities including prescribing treatments and performing procedures. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Eligibility requirements must be met according to VHA policy, and the application must be submitted within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA-employed physicians who initially met the qualification standards are deemed qualified.
The Cardiologist will have training and experience managing advanced heart failure patients, participate in inpatient and outpatient care, teaching, and research. Responsibilities include prescribing treatments, supervising trainees, providing consultations, performing procedures like echocardiography and stress testing, managing post-transplant and LVAD patients, and participating in quality assurance and telehealth initiatives. The role involves serving on committees, maintaining professional competency, and ensuring compliance with standards.
