Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center in New York City is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Emergency Department. You will assist in daily patient care, under supervision, and participate in rounds and conferences. The role requires NYS licensure, NCCPA board certification, and ACLS/PALS credentials.

Preferred candidates have 3–5 years of ED or critical care PA experience, and pediatric exposure is a plus. This is a full-time position in the Bay Ridge ED with strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program with NYS licensure.
• Board certified by the NCCPA; BCLS/ACLS certification required.
• 3–5 years PA experience in Critical Care/Emergency Medicine preferred; pediatric experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing care in the ED under supervision and physician oversight.
• Orders diagnostic and laboratory tests; reports results to supervising physician.
• Formulates diagnostic and treatment plans; writes orders.
• Documents diagnoses, procedures and treatments in patient charts.
• Participates in patient care rounds, teaching conferences, and quality assurance meetings.
• Maintains departmental policies, safety and infection control standards.

Overview

Clinical Decision Unit / Bay Ridge Emergency/ Maimonides Emergency Department

Assists in providing care on a daily basis for all assigned patients in the Department/Division.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as per the Department/Division “Physician Assistant Delineation of Privileges” after appropriate training and approval by the Chairman
• With approval of supervising physician, orders diagnostic and laboratory tests. Reports results of all clinical and diagnostic findings to supervising physician and with him/her, communicates results of medical examination to patients
• Formulates appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans, writes appropriate orders
• Performs procedures on patients as defined in the Department/Division Delineation of Privileges
• Documents all diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and other relevant information in patient’s chart
• Notifies attending physician of any change of patient’s status or unexpected events requiring direct physician consultation
• Participates in patient care rounds, teaching conferences and appropriate quality assurance meetings
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, compliance, safety, environmental and infection control standards

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with current NYS licensure and registration. ED experience preferred. Board certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification for Physicians Assistant) BCLS/ACLS certification required. Valid DEA number. Strongly Preferred, 3-5 years of PA experience in a related area, Critical Care/Emergency Medicine Experience. ACLS & PALS certification, Pediatric experience.

Pay Range

USD $74.14 - USD $93.82 /Hr.
