Job Opportunity: Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care at VACIHS

The VACIHS is seeking an experienced, full-time, permanent physician to serve as Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care. This role reports directly to the Chief of Staff and involves oversight of clinical operations and administrative functions across Internal Medicine subspecialties, including Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Pulmonary, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise physician staff, providers, and administrative personnel.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Engage in teaching and program development, with 10-20% clinical work.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise Section Chiefs and administrative staff.
Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license requirements must be completed prior to hire. Current VA-employed physicians meeting previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not feasible).
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Completed residency training approved by the VA, ACGME, or AOA, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
