Summary

North Florida/South Georgia VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Chief of Staff who reports administratively to the Chief of Staff (COS) with the Facility Director as secondary supervisor. The incumbent serves as Chief of Credentialing and Privileging. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to quality care standards and the growth of a VA academic hospital program.

Qualifications

This is an open continuous announcement until filled, with applications accepted ongoingly. Eligible applicants will be referred weekly until a selection is made. To qualify, applicants must meet basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion should be noted, as applicants may be tentatively selected but not hired until all requirements are met. VA-employed physicians who met previous standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements
  1. U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
  2. Medical Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  3. Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S., its territories, or D.C.
  4. Residency Training: Completed approved residency leading to eligibility for board certification, with specifics on approved programs.
  5. Additional Qualifications: Board certification in a clinical specialty, proficiency in English, and an adjunct faculty position at an affiliated school.
  6. Preferred Experience: Leadership or executive experience preferred.
  7. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical, with specified physical capabilities.
Duties
  1. Manage and oversee Credentialing programs, including LIP and non-LIP sections.
  2. Serve as a subject-matter expert on clinician competency and privileging matters.
  3. Participate in medical center committees and communicate with senior leadership.
  4. Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation and oversight guidelines, including monitoring licensures and evaluations.
  5. Chair weekly Medical Executive Committee and other credentialing boards.
  6. Manage professional practice evaluations, licensing correspondence, and credentialing-related communications.
  7. Handle vacancy selections, performance evaluations, and employee relations.
  8. Mentor staff and develop leadership.
  9. Engage with external stakeholders during site visits.
  10. Perform at least 10% clinical work in the specialty.
  11. Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows.
  12. Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with possible shift variations.
