Job summary

HealthTexas Medical Group in San Antonio seeks a Physician Assistant to join our Helotes, TX team. You will obtain patient histories, conduct exams, order and interpret tests, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.

You will educate patients, assist in clinics including foot care and Saturday coverage, triage calls, and maintain HIPAA compliance. Requires NCCPA certification and Texas license.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Texas license required or eligible to obtain.
• Knowledge of healthcare law and ethics.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of clinical systems/EHR.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and nurses.
• Ability to order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays.
• Provide patient education and counseling.

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
• Interpret data to determine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
• Perform a complete physical exam and document findings.
• Order laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• Develop preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
• Administer injections and prescribe medications.
• Instruct and educate patients regarding medications and treatment.
• Assist physicians by recording progress notes and transcribing orders.
• Occasionally facilitate HTMG Foot Care clinic and Saturday clinic.
• Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
