Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited PA program.
  • Current Texas PA license.
  • Current NCCPA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtain medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret labs and diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe medications and perform procedures per approved protocols.
  • Develop and implement detailed patient treatment plans with the care team.
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, medications, nutrition and health promotion.
  • Document treatment plans and outcomes; initiate referrals when needed.
  • Provide consultation within specialty scope as delegated by supervising physician.

Job description

Position Highlights
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (no weekends or call).
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 18 patients per day, allowing time to build meaningful patient relationships.
  • Enhanced Care Team Model: Work within a collaborative Primary Care team alongside physicians, APPs, and dedicated clinical support staff.
  • Excellent Support Staff: Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Front Desk (PSS), Social Worker, plus physician and APP collaboration.
  • Comprehensive Scope of Practice:
    • New and established patient visits
    • Acute access and follow-up appointments
    • Pre- and post-operative care
    • Individual and shared in-basket management
    • Office procedures including Nexplanon insertions, IUD placements, joint injections, incision & drainage (I&D), suturing, and biopsies.
  • Training & Mentorship: New graduates are welcome! Includes 12–18 months of physician oversight, Thrive Program, clinic orientation, and structured onboarding.
  • Experience Preferences: Team prefers 2+ years of experience, is open to PA new graduates.
Job Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice.

These providers typically provide care to patients in an internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories.
  • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
  • Creates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards. Collaborates with physicians and team members when needed.
  • Evaluates patient’s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects. Discusses interactions with substances like food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
  • Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise.
  • Provide consultation level services for conditions /problems related to the Provider’s specialty and training.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising Physician.
  • May provide care to patients in a team-based model. Focus on acute and chronic illness management and population health.

  • Knowledge of information and techniques is needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.

  • Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
