Physician Assistant Job Responsibilities:
  1. Providing IV conscious sedation for patients ages 5 to young adults in our fast-paced oral surgery clinics.
  2. Starting IVs independently on patients.
  3. Preparation and administration of IV procedural sedation medications as well as other IV medications.
  4. Monitoring and assessing the patient before, during, and after recovery.
  5. Responding to emergency situations that may arise during sedation.
  6. Educating patients and families prior to and after procedures.
  7. Performing telephone triage, pre-op, and follow-up calls.
  8. Providing comprehensive healthcare services to plastic and oral surgery patients of all ages, including eliciting histories, performing examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and counseling patients.
  9. Managing all aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as assisting during surgery.
  10. Managing emergency situations during sedations.
  11. Facilitating appropriate patient referrals within the scope of practice delegated by the supervising physician.
  12. Working 40 hours per week, scheduled as four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from a Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current Massachusetts Physician Assistant License.
  • At least 1 year of emergency medicine or ICU experience, as a PA or EMT with ACLS level care.
  • Strong understanding of emergency management and response capabilities during sedation.
  • Ability to travel to Boston Children's Hospital satellite locations.
  • Flexibility and collaborative spirit.
  • Analytical skills and cross-functional experience.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
