Job summary

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to support a busy sports medicine surgeon specializing in knee, hip, and shoulder surgery. The position requires collaboration with a team dedicated to high-quality patient care and excellent service in the clinic, with some travel to Chicago and Western Suburbs.

  • Current PA or NP license in Illinois (or ability to obtain).
  • National certification (NCCPA for PA; AANP/ANCC for NP).
  • Current CPR Certification.

  • Assist the physician in clinic setting.
  • Assess patient health status and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Close collaboration with existing team.
  • Assist the physician in clinic setting.
  • Assess patient health status including state of wellness and compliance with care plan, and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Utilize practice technology including, but not limited to, electronic health record, dictation, and outcomes tools to their full capability to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Responsible for providing medical care as delegated by physician.
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate and provides continuity of care.
  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Travel with Physician as required.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current P hysician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Illinois (or ability to obtain)
  • National certification (NCCPA for PA; or AANP, ANCC for NP)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and procedural skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $100-120k annualized.Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity.
