Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Physician Assistant to deliver comprehensive outpatient care focused on prevention, patient education, and disease management for diverse communities.

You will assess patients, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with healthcare teams, with opportunities to advance clinical privileges and contribute to community health initiatives within IHS facilities nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience: at least 1 year as a certified Physician Assistant (GS-7 level or equivalent).
• Active, current license as a Physician Assistant in the U.S. or territory; able to obtain and maintain licensure.
• U.S. Citizenship and Selective Service registration as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive therapeutic and preventive health services in an outpatient setting.
• Identifies and manages illnesses and preventive aspects of those illnesses.
• Familiarizes self with communities served and orients staff, tribal members, health board, and tribal leaders on health care issues.
• Serves in a teaching capacity and precepts students and others.
