We are located on the NWH Main Campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, 02462.In this role, Physician Assistants provide coverage in the Emergency Department, on the inpatient floor, perform inpatient surgical consults, and potentially evening OR coverage. Providers practice autonomously at the top of their licensure and are responsible for:• Presenting and discussing patient evaluations with Attending Surgeons to develop appropriate treatment plans• Ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results• Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:o Wound careo Tube and drain insertion, care, and removalo Suturing and suture removalo Splint, brace, and cast application and removalo Medication administration (including IV push medications and steroid/anesthetic injections)o Central venous line removalo Electrocardiograms• Conducting daily patient rounds• Participating in discharge planning and completing discharge summaries.• Educating and counseling patients and families• Orienting medical students, physician assistant students, and surgical residents to the clinical environment, patient care practices, and hospital policies• Participating in quality improvement and quality assurance initiativesIn this full-time role, you will have the opportunity to practice at the top of your licensure, with mentorship and support from a tenured, highly skilled group of advanced practice providers.SummaryThe Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider.
