French Consulting is seeking a Physician Assistant for Orthopedic Surgery at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, CO. Work includes clinic, inpatient, perioperative care, and surgical first assisting with a collaborating orthopedic surgeon.

Qualifications

  • At least 24 months within the last 36 months actively practicing as an Orthopedic Surgery PA (or in training).
  • Demonstrated clinical and surgical first‑assistant competency, verifiable through logs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist orthopedic surgeons in the operating room as a surgical first assistant.
  • Provide perioperative care in conjunction with the treating surgeon.
  • Admit patients and perform inpatient rounds under the surgeon's direction.

Job Opportunity: Physician Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery

Location: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), Fort Carson, CO

Start Date: ASAP – upon completion of credentialing, privileging, and security verification

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shift between 0730–1600 (30-minute unpaid lunch); no on-call

Evans Army Community Hospital is hiring Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistants to provide clinic, inpatient, and perioperative care alongside a collaborating orthopedic surgeon. You will help patients of all ages recover from injuries and conditions of the extremities, spine, and related structures.

If you enjoy a hands‑on role that blends clinic work, casting and injections, and first assisting in the OR, this position offers the variety and autonomy you are looking for.

What You’ll Do
Orthopedic Clinic Care
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and consult on conditions, illnesses, and injuries of the extremities, spine, and associated structures for patients of all ages
  • Obtain and evaluate medical histories, perform physical exams, and order labs, radiographs, ECGs, and other studies
  • Perform non-operative management of fractures, including orthopedic casting and injections
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions per medical staff policy
  • Counsel patients on medical problems, medications, expected treatment effects, and health maintenance
Surgical & Inpatient Support
  • Assist the orthopedic surgeons in the operating room as a surgical first assistant
  • Provide perioperative care in conjunction with the treating surgeon
  • Admit patients and perform inpatient rounds under the direction of the orthopedic surgeon
  • Administer lifesaving procedures and medications in emergencies pending physician availability
Team, Quality & Documentation
  • Coordinate care with the healthcare team and initiate consultations to other specialties as needed
  • Make entries in patient records and complete narrative summaries and other documentation
  • Participate in monthly peer review and quality assurance chart reviews when requested
  • Attend patient care conferences and professional staff meetings related to your assigned cases
  • Instruct other team members on preventive medicine and related clinical topics
Who You Are
  • A skilled orthopedic PA who is proficient in casting, injections, and surgical first assisting
  • Comfortable exercising independent judgment while working within a collaborative care model
  • Calm and decisive when patients present with emergent conditions
  • A strong communicator who works well with surgeons, nurses, and patients
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and committed to accurate documentation
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the ARC-PA
Experience
  • At least 24 months within the last 36 months actively practicing as an Orthopedic Surgery PA (or in training)
  • Demonstrated clinical and surgical first‑assistant competency, verifiable through clinical and surgical activity logs from prior institutions
Certifications & Licensure
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications, maintained at your own expense
  • Current, valid, unrestricted PA license
    • Held in the U.S. jurisdiction where services are performed (Colorado)
    • Must remain free of limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions
Eligibility
  • U.S. citizenship (required for all positions on this contract)
  • Ability to submit a complete credentialing package within 30 daysMeet DoD health requirements before placement
    • Hepatitis B series with a positive titer; MMR and varicella (series or positive titer)
    • Annual influenza vaccine and tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or QuantiFERON)
