Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, Cardiology (Assistant Professor)

Overview

This position provides advanced care to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, under the supervision of physicians in the Heart Failure, LVAD, and Heart Transplant Team. The role is based solely at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, collaborating with cardiology team members including physicians, advanced providers, nurses, coordinators, and patients, in a professional, effective, and friendly manner.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures relevant to patient health concerns.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
• Maintain accurate records, write orders, and document patient progress.
• Ensure accuracy of medical records and documentation.
• Provide follow-up care according to established protocols.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and families regarding care plans.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify suitable patients for care management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Physician Assistant candidates: Master's degree in physician assistant studies or Bachelor's if accepted based on terminal degree requirements.
• Nurse Practitioner candidates: Master's degree in nursing.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Physician Assistant: Current license from the Texas Physician Assistant Board.
• Nurse Practitioner: Current Texas RN license, Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) licensure.

Experience: None required.

Additional certifications such as Specialty certification and BLS are required.
