Job Description

This position is contingent upon contract award and is based on the Coast of Africa.

This role supports a US Government Facility on the Coast of Africa, offering opportunities for career and personal growth. You will be part of a close-knit team that embraces challenges and fosters learning and excellence. Using your skills, you will contribute to the success of future missions.

The Advanced Practitioners, as Physician Assistants (PA) or Nurse Practitioners (NP), will support providing comprehensive medical care to US government employees and contractors. Clinics deliver primary, urgent, and emergency care. The Advanced Practitioner leads and manages clinic staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee medical staff at a DOS/DOS healthcare clinic.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other APPs, and support staff for seamless patient care.
  • Assess and stabilize patients requiring urgent or emergent care.
  • Provide primary and ongoing care for a wide range of health concerns.
  • Services include health promotion, disease prevention, health education, diagnosis, physical exams, vaccinations, and STD testing.
  • Manage simple chronic conditions with monitoring.
  • Consult and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and training requirements.
  • Coordinate with medical evacuation teams for beyond-capability cases.
  • Participate in MASCAL exercises.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:

  • Full unrestricted U.S. (State) Licensure, Certification, or Registration in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or D.C.
  • Certified in BLS, ACLS, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
  • Experience on military sites as a government contractor is preferred.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited American Physician Assistant program with NCCPA certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with AANP or ANCC certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Meet pre-deployment physical standards.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Other Qualifications

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Valid US Passport with at least 6 months before expiration; must maintain during stay.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government security clearance; current clearances are preferred.
  • Willing to relocate for the project duration.
  • Proficient in English communication.
