The Physician Assistant in the Department takes history and conducts physical examinations on patients assigned to his or her care in both hospital and ambulatory settings.
• Physician Assistants attend clinical conferences as required by JCAHO and present cases in departmental grand rounds.• Participates in department Performance Improvement activities. • Physician Assistants will contribute strong efforts in ensuring patient satisfaction as well as improving patient census in the department.• Physician Assistant will ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and follow all approved policies and procedures.
Obstetrics:
•When assigned to the Obstetric Triage Labor & Delivery area – the physician assistant will be supervised by the attending physician. Similarly, physician assistants assigned to the antepartum and postpartum units will evaluate and discharge patients under the supervision of the attending physician.
Gynecology:
Physician Assistants assigned to Gynecology will admit and discharge patients under the supervision of attending physicians. Duties also include:
