Job summary

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to collaborate with a physician in inpatient and outpatient care, delivering health services to patients. The role requires coordination with the physician via telecommunication or in person as needed.

Location: Decatur, AL, with a schedule of 2 Sundays per month. Candidates should have completed an accredited PA/NP program and hold an AL license, plus 2 years of infectious disease experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited PA/NP program.
• Current AL PA license or AL NP license.
• Two years’ experience, preferably in an infectious disease field.
• Proof of current vaccinations, including boosters for immunocompromised patients (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19).
• Accommodations/exceptions considered case-by-case.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physician in inpatient and outpatient care to treat patients.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic treatment.
• Monitor intervention effectiveness.
• Order, interpret, and perform labs and radiology tests.
• Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, as delegated.
• Perform other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.

Job description

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner shall consult with the collaborating physician by telecommunication or in person as needed. In the absence of the designated collaborating physician, another physician shall be available for consultation.

Location: Decatur Morgan Hospital (Decatur, AL)

Schedule: 2 Sundays/month

Specific Duties

1. Will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient and outpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients.
2. Diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health problems.
3. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatment.
4. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
5. Ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.
6. Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated.
7. Performing other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.
