Job summary

Metro-Infectious-Disease-Consultants in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work with a collaborating physician in an active inpatient practice, delivering health care services to our patients at local hospitals. The role requires AL PA or NP licensure, graduation from an accredited program, at least two years of infectious disease experience, and current vaccinations.

Full-time with one weekend per month; base salary around $85,000 plus monthly incentives,

• Two years’ experience, preferably in an infectious disease field.
• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients.

• Will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient and outpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients.
• Diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health problems.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatment.
• Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
• Ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.
• Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated.
• Performing other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.

Job description

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner shall consult with the collaborating physician by telecommunication or in person as needed. In the absence of the designated collaborating physician, another physician shall be available for consultation.

Location: Birmingham, AL (providing local hospital support at St Vincent East, Brookwood, and Grandview)

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday-Friday) + One Weekend/Month
