The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) provides high-quality, patient-centered care as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the APP assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients within their scope of practice and area of specialty. The APP is responsible for delivering evidence-based care, promoting positive patient outcomes, maintaining professional and regulatory standards, and supporting the clinical, educational, and operational goals of the department and organization.

Additional Job Description

The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Internal Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and will take an active role in the new internal medicine residency program.

This position is with is the academic outpatient internal medicine department at WVU Medicine. A growing academic Internal Medicine section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities with internal medicine residents and medical students in an outpatient clinical setting. Internal Medicine faculty will also participate in didactic conferences and have access to scholarly and research opportunities. The primary hospital is Berkeley Medical Center, a 200-bed teaching hospital in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, with a 19 bed ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology, and the full range of medical and surgical consultative services. There are active Neurosurgical, Cardiovascular, and Oncology programs via our Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Heart and Vascular Institute, and Cancer Institute, respectively. Additional tertiary care support is provided by a strong collaborative relationship with Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications

Candidate must have a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree, and be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)National Commission and be eligible for state medical license.
