Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $182,880.00

AFTER HOURS CLINIC HOURS: 12 PM - 9 PM

The Physician Assistant provides primary care to patients at NEMS, offers quality medical diagnostic services and treatment, and participates in medical quality improvement programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. See NEMS’ patients as scheduled by the department.
  2. Obtain medical history and perform patient examinations, evaluations, and counseling within training and protocols.
  3. Perform routine screening physical exams and follow-up evaluations, especially for patients with chronic conditions.
  4. Consult with supervising physicians or other providers as needed. Communicate with primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
  5. Complete documentation of evaluations, care, and services in the medical record.
  6. Provide acute care as specified in protocols.
  7. Follow-up and provide health maintenance care, including medication adjustments per protocols or supervisor instructions.
  8. Prescribe medications to implement the treatment plan.
  9. Deliver culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate medical services.
  10. Participate in the department’s Quality Improvement Program and activities.
  11. Comply with requests from governmental and funding agencies.
  12. Refer patients to specialists and ancillary services as necessary.
  13. Discharge patients after visits are completed.
  14. Assist supervising physicians or clinic directors on projects as requested.
  15. Participate in medical outreach programs such as health fairs and media appearances.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Successful completion of an accredited program and NCCPA National Certification Exam.
  2. Maintain certification with NCCPA every two years and recertify every six years.
  3. Licensed by the State Medical Board of California under the Medical Act provisions.
  4. Current Basic Life Support certification is required.

LANGUAGE:

  1. Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  2. Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish, or other languages is a plus.

STATUS:

  1. This is an FLSA exempt position.
  2. This is an OSHA high-risk position.
  3. This is a full-time position.
