Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for inpatient medicine at Temple, TX. The role emphasizes clinical autonomy on a night shift schedule with a 7 nights on / 14 nights off cadence.

The PA will work with an experienced physician and interdisciplinary team to manage hospitalized patients, order diagnostics, round, and develop evidence-based treatment plans. Texas licensure and NCCPA certification are required, with BLS and ACLS within 30 days of hire.

Formación

• 2+ years of experience in inpatient medicine, ICU/critical care, emergency medicine, or pulmonary medicine.
• Ability to work autonomously with a strong clinical judgment.
• Experience collaborating with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other care team members.

• Evaluate changes in patient condition and determine appropriate interventions.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics.
• Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice.

About The Role

As an Inpatient Medicine PA, you'll play an important role in the care of hospitalized patients throughout their stay. You'll use your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and independent judgment to evaluate patients, manage acute and chronic conditions, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.

You’ll Have The Opportunity To

• Perform patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
• Evaluate changes in patient condition and determine appropriate interventions.
• Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
• Prescribe medications and provide treatments within your scope of practice.
• Conduct hospital rounds and assist with admissions and discharges.
• Perform procedures based on your training, competency, and scope of practice.
• Monitor treatment response and adjust plans of care as appropriate.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the care team.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans.
• Recognize when additional consultation or escalation of care is needed.

• Inpatient medicine
• ICU / critical care

You’ll Also Need

• Current Texas PA license
• Current NCCPA certification
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
