Job summary

Allina Health seeks a Physician Assistant to join the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. This full-time role blends outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding and infusion center support within a multidisciplinary cancer team.

Requirements include a Master's PA degree and MN licensure; ACLS/BLS; NCCPA certification. Gynecologic oncology or surgical experience preferred; new graduates may be considered. Monday–Friday schedule with potential first-assist in OR.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in Gynecologic Oncology
• Completes comprehensive patient assessments and determines diagnosis and treatment
• Orders and interprets diagnostics in tandem with attending physician
• Prescribes medications and treatment plans
• Education and counseling for chronic illness and survivorship care
• Surgical first-assist opportunities in the operating room as needed
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary oncology teams

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications

• New Graduates may be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Gynecologic Oncology or surgical experienced preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

The Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI) is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Gynecologic Oncology Program. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care within one of the region's leading cancer programs. AHCI recently launched its gynecologic oncology program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, expanding access to specialized care for patients with ovarian, uterine, cervical, and other gynecologic cancers.

• Full-time position based at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. May provide coverage at other metro Allina Health Cancer Institute locations.
• Monday through Friday schedule.
• Combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient rounding responsibilities. This role includes care for active treatment patients, infusion center support, sexual health visits for patients with cancer, and survivorship visits.
• Surgical first-assist opportunities in the operating room as needed.
• Collaborative practice alongside gynecologic oncologists and multidisciplinary oncology teams

Pay Range

Pay Range: $135,096 to $164,216 per year
