Position Summary

The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides healthcare services under supervision or collaboration with an attending physician. Responsibilities include medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic procedures, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical prescriptions. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, participation in quality improvement, and maintaining professional development.

Surgical Services

• Involves inpatient consults, admissions, discharges, and management across multiple surgical subspecialties including general surgery, vascular, urology, Gyn, ENT. Assists in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries.
• Working hours: 0700-1500 or 0700-1700, Monday to Friday.
• On-call every 4th-5th night and weekends; weekend rounds and OR coverage as needed; on-call from home for OR only.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and educate patients and families, including physical examinations and medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; develop and implement treatment plans.
• Coordinate care with healthcare team; provide evidence-based high-quality care.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within clinical privileges.
• Conduct virtual care assessments and treatments via St. Luke’s platform.
• Engage in continuing education, research, guideline development, and teaching students and residents.
• Participate in performance improvement and utilize electronic medical records effectively.
• Manage resources responsibly and collaborate with case management for patient care planning.
