Responsibilities
  • Document pertinent data on patient charts as required for clinical management.
  • Evaluate consultation and nursing requests promptly.
  • Report to Lead Surgical PA/Supervising Physician on a mutually agreed schedule.
  • Establish annually a personal development plan with identified goals.
  • Develop a weekly work schedule in cooperation with the Lead Surgical PA/Supervising Physician.
  • Perform new procedures in collaboration with Lead Surgical PA/Supervising Physician.
  • Document clinical care accurately using appropriate EMR software or procedure form.
  • Undertake advanced procedures as described in the privilege documents.
  • Demonstrate attentive, proficient skills as observed by Lead Surgical PA/Supervising Physician.
  • Prepare and maintain patient medical records on employer and hospital pre- approved forms or in EMR software consistent with Medical Staff and Joint Commission standards. Medical record documentation is expected within twenty-four (24) hours of patient care, in accordance with employer hospital standards.
  • Prepare all reports, claims and correspondence necessary or appropriate in connection with professional services rendered by PA.
  • Consult with physicians as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation for and participate in surveys by federal or state regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission. Actively participate in peer review and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in clinical guideline development, care management programs and quality assurance as directed.
  • Participate and comply with BHMSG and hospital compliance programs and activities, including compliance education programs for billing and coding.
  • Comply with all BHMSG and hospital reimbursement requirements including timely completion of billing slips and accurate coding of services.
  • Cooperate and participate in educational programs established by employer and the hospital related to PA expertise.
  • Utilize CPOE.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with other professional members of employer and the hospital. Serve on hospital and medical staff committees as requested by employer.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Physician Associate program; certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants; valid Connecticut medical license; Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration; and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification.
