Allina Health is seeking a Physician Assistant for its Cambridge-area General Surgery practice. The role blends clinic, inpatient, and operating room support with a 1.0 FTE, 8-hour day shifts and no weekend work.

You will assist in bread-and-butter General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and minimally invasive/robotic procedures, aiding the Cambridge General Surgery Practice. The position requires a PA with a Master’s degree and at least 3 years in General Surgery, MN licensure, and NCCPA

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant program (must be accredited).
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Physician Assistant in a General Surgery setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients.
• Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
• Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
• Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
• Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
• Conducts patient education for chronic illness or wellness.
• Refers for specialty care when determined.
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside PA scope.

Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Physician Assistant working in a General Surgery setting

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Pay Range:

Pay Range: $137,530 to $162,074 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
