Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care in Central Indiana is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our float pool for urgent care locations. You will provide a broad range of clinical services to patients of all ages, including acute infections, sore throats, and minor injuries, working independently or with a physician.

The role requires a PA with 1 year in urgent care or ER, NCCPA certification, and a Master's in PA, plus skills in suturing, splinting, EKG and X-ray interpretation, and strong patient

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of full-time PA/NP experience in urgent care or ER.
• Experience treating pediatric and adult patients.
• Comfort with minor procedures (suturing, casting, splinting).
• Proficient in preliminary reads of EKGs and X-rays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams and review patient histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate treatments or medications.
• Perform minor procedures including suturing, splinting, and casting.
• Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the EMR.
• Educate and counsel patients on care and prevention.
• Administer vaccinations and refer patients to specialists as needed.
• Work scheduled shifts of hours as assigned.

About the Role

As a Physician Assistant (PA)- Float , you will provide a broad range of clinical services to patients of all ages. You'll treat acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. You'll work independently or alongside a physician, using your clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat patients, while recognizing when to escape care to emergency services.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams and review patient medical histories
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate treatments or medications
• Perform minor procedures including suturing, splinting, and casting
• Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the EMR
• Educate and counsel patients on care and prevention
• Administer vaccinations and refer patients to specialists as needed
• Work scheduled shifts of hours as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a licensed NP or PA in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting (required)
• Experience treating both pediatric and adult patient populations (required)
• Comfortable performing minor procedures including suturing, casting, and splinting (required)
• Proficient in preliminary reads of EKGs and X-rays (required)

Physician Assistants:

• Master's degree from an accredited PA program (required)
• NCCPA Certification (required)

Required Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency in urgent care procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting)
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attentive listening and patient engagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
• Multilingual communication skills
• Familiarity with telemedicine platforms
• Basic understanding of medical billing and coding
